Welcome To The Summer Lake Basin
Introduction
Summer Lake is located in central Oregon on highway 31 (scenic byway). It is commonly referred to as Oregon's best kept secret. Surrounded by green and yellow mountains on all four sides, 30 miles of beautiful wide open terrain and a large lake in between, renders the community a certain type of independence from the rest of the world.
Aside from the beautiful landscape, and majestic wildlife roaming the hills (including Bighorns, Antelopes and large deer herds), the community and people of Summer Lake also contribute to its reputation.

FEATURED STORY OF THE MONTH
Spring has arrived at long last, however the weather is still reluctant to stabelize! We've had some good rain the last few days, and mountains still seem to have a good snowpack, which will make many of the ranchers happy. The sun comes out now and then, just long enough to keep the temperature up. The Lord has more in store for us in the days to come during the next few months.
If your planning on visiting Summer Lake in the coming weeks and into July for the holidays, we recommend you wear your windbreakers, and heep a pancho in your vehicle, (the winds can be unforgiving at times, and the rain has been on and off). Keep your phone close by and try to have a few numbers of some of the locals handy in case you need help. If you know anything about Summer Lake, the people are always more then willing to help there fellow man, whatever the conditions. If you find yourself in a tight spot, you shouldn't hesitate in asking for a little help, the people of Summer Lake pride themselves on being there for one another, we also have a crack Volunteer Emergency Response Unit for the whole of Summer Lake.
With spring coming on and things warming up, it doesn't mean we can all go swiming and play hooky all day! No sir... There will be plenty of work to be done, we can look forward to a lot of warm days out working in the gardens and fields. This rain is goos news for the farmers and ranchers, it means gras on the open range and hay crops will shoot for the sky. Roads need to be graded, vehicles need repairs after the long winter, tires need to be changed over... and all the wonderful activities that go with the spring and summer seasons.
